It is with the deepest gratitude and joy that I record the healing which led me from the darkness of material living to the light of scientific Christianity. For twenty years I had been searching for a religion which would satisfy me spiritually and heal me physically.
Troubles which operations failed to remedy were claiming to make me a nervous wreck, and so incapacitated me mentally and physically that I was of no use to myself or any one else. I had apparently lost the use of my limbs, and was suffering besides from heart trouble and insomnia. In my wretchedness I at last turned to Christian Science, which had been knocking at my doors for many years, but to which through darkest prejudice I had refused admission. A practitioner was called, and her loving help brought almost instantaneous healing of many of the troubles. Then and there I commenced my blessed journey from sense to Soul. It was oftentimes a hard way, for my understanding was slight, and in part my healing was slow. But the progress was steady; and now not only is my healing complete, but we have had many other wonderful demonstrations of the truth.
In humility I give thanks to God for the great gift of Christian Science, and desire to express my joy that through it I am learning to follow Christ Jesus' religion of love. Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 113), "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." And it is for her clear teaching of this great, wonderful, transfiguring love, which embraces all men and enables us to enter into the joys of Spirit, that I especially give thanks.
