I came into Science about one year ago. I was said to have been born with weak eyes, and according to medical direction, had to wear glasses. I had worn them since I was five years of age, when I first began school, and had become so accustomed to them that I wore them constantly. At the time above mentioned I had an uncle and aunt who had been healed in Christian Science, and of course they were very enthusiastic over their recovery, which was truly wonderful. They had sent literature to my home, though it had not been read, except by my sister, who was very ill at that time and who has since been completely healed through Science. Like most other non-Scientists, we regarded Christian Science as some kind of heresy, and ridiculed it to a high degree. This is frequently the case, I think, with outsiders who do not understand the truth.
Upon the healing of my sister, I was naturally interested, so after a short visit to my uncle, I decided to try it, as it couldn't do me any harm. I laid aside the glasses of my own accord and began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." At first, mortal sense told me my eyes were inflamed, but I declared the truth, and since that time have never put on glasses again, though I have school and office work requiring much reading and writing. My eyes are now all right, and each day I feel more and more thankful to God, as well as grateful to Mrs. Eddy, and hope that many others may come, as I have, to know the truth. I want to be an example which others will do well to follow, and hope that the day is not far distant when Christian Science will be more widely known here.—David Gibson, New Decatur, Ala.
