The Gulf Stream

Perhaps the most interesting and wonderful phenomenon in the physical world is the Gulf Stream. Christian Science in the moral world offers a counterpart.

Professor Maury says, "The Gulf Stream has never failed in time of droughts, nor in time of flood has it ever overflowed. In all the world there is no other such majestic flow of waters." The volume of this ocean stream is a thousand times greater than any river on the earth. It has its origin in the Gulf of Mexico, and flows widening in a northeast direction to the southern shores of Newfoundland.

But for the warmth of this great river the shores of that icy island would be uninhabited. From Newfoundland the Gulf Stream flows on across the ocean touching the British Isles, Norway, Iceland, Spitzbergen, and Nova-Zembla.
