I saw that in order to find my life, I had to first lose it—that is, lose all sense of life as material.

Love's Channels

Far on the other side of arid wasteWhich stood betwixt my brother-man and me,I saw him stand and, bowed in deep distress,Reach out his hands and call imploringly.

The Promise

They must have felt, who saw him first in Nazareth,The power of Life that waits to triumph over death.
One of the gifts the Wisemen brought to the little Lord Jesuswas gold;Poured they out at his baby feet a treasure of wealth untold;Naught recked he of the wealth they bore—nor yet doth he care to-dayFor golden store, save grateful hearts their gifts on his alter lay.

Greater Love

When the silver bells are pealing,Softly o'er my spirit stealing,Breaks a cadence sweet, compelling,Every dream of earth dispelling:'Tis the Christ-love born anew!

A Prayer

This is my prayer, dear God, each day,That I may love and help all those who camemy way,And teach them that the pathway up to TheeIs one of glorious freedom—liberty.
God’s child goes on his journey with a song;      He blends with hope and faith his pure desires,And knows he cannot hold a purpose wrong,     Since Love, the All-in-all, his thought inspires.

Awakening

I loved to tread familiar ways,To turn my willing footsteps whereI lived again remembered days,And dreamt the dreams of yesteryear.

"Father, I thank thee"

I thank Thee for this dayOf quiet rest and prayer.

Peniel

Art thou, like Jacob, wrestling through the nightWith a mysterious foe?

Gratitude

Now would we thank Thee, Father, for this day,Wherein to overcome, to watch and pray;Untiring in our efforts to effaceEarth's concepts false, vain theories displace,With endless patience weighing every thought,Except of Thee, rejecting each as naughtUntil, with mortal self so sacrificed,We gain a clearer vision of the Christ.
