From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Communion

He who has supped with Thee may never more be fed,Except Thou at the table sit and break the bread.

Confidence

To-Day for me there is no strife, No fear some need may be unmet; But there is love and peace and joy For healings I can ne'er forget.

Faith's Blessing

A hopeless heart, despairing,Sends out a cry for help; The answer comes in Love's own way,—The Love that never fails.

Confidence

In peace apart—to ponder this—My God is All-in-all;My friend, my counselor, my guide,Who hears me when I call.

No Death Horizon

I stood on the sands one summer day,And watched a white ship that sailed awayFrom sheltering shores within the bay,Out to the great gray sea,Proudly her flag to the breeze unfurling,Cleaving the billows around her curling,Speeding away from me.

Praying

Does not prayer mean the mental glad ascentTo higher visions of the heavenly grace?

A Prayer

Oh, lift mine eyes above the sons of men,That they may fasten on the things of Thee; For I am weary of the strife of kingsWhich wars against Thy law unceasingly—Kings, but whose crowns are made of worldly dust,That crumble at Thy word and sink to naught:Pride and the lust of power and place, which reachAnd fret for what can ne'er be sold or bought.

Impartial Love

God, the Father, loveth all,Watcheth over, careth for,Leadeth, guideth all alike,—No one less and no one more; Each His son and heir beloved.

Faithfulness

Just to know that Love is all,To turn from error's thrall,To hear Truth's trumpet call,—Is faithfulness.
