Christmas

The floodgates of the Truth are open thrown,And one blessed beam, superb, divinely bright,Streams on the startled night! No moan, no cradle cry beclouds the birthOf this Redeemer, at whose gentle voiceThe deserts and the wilderness rejoice,And angels whisper, Peace, good will to earth.

Here in the silence of this quiet room,All undisturbed, with Love I find my wayThrough paths of danger and through nights of gloom,Far out into God's sun-filled, perfect day.

"My thoughts"

My thoughts are not as Thine; but I would fainSo cleanse my mortal sense with sense divine,So strive to wash away the worldly stainOf earth's contagion, that this heart of mineMay seem a temple meet, a fane, a shrine,A cloister pure for Thine all-cleansing SpiritThere to abide; so may Thy flame refineMy fitful thoughts until at length they meritA sinless heritage, such as Thy saints inherit.

Victory

I Thank Thee, God, for Thy correcting voice,Which guides me tenderly throughout each day; For, chastened by Thy love, I can rejoiceIn sacrificing self to gain Thy way.

Victory

I Give to God this will of mine; And in exchange His will divineDecrees, as to His only Son,Reward for well-fought battles won.

Peace Is Mine

Before Truth came, my heart knew naught but sadness;Until I learned of Love, my world was drear.

The Responsive Heart

O Heart of mine, that I have deemed of yoreInconstant arbiter of flesh and bone,What dark deceit, what code of barbarous loreHave thus conspired to rob me of my own?

"Arise! Shine!"

Rejoice! The light of Truth is come!Awake, O voice that long was dumb!Thy heart's dried channels shall be filled,And earth's dark terrors all be stilled.

The Cross

I Call that bravery—Despite its weakness—That spends the ultimate of strengthAnd scales the pinnacle of meekness,Enduring slavery,And conq'ring it at length!

Christ's Ever Presence

I am the Way! E'en though thy pathWith countless dangers seem beset,Lo, in the midst of all I standUnmoved, all-knowing, with a handOutstretched to thee.

Truth's Final Peace Offer

AT night, on Mount of Olives, Jesus keptA faithful vigil while earth's nations slept.
