O aching heart, from self now turn.

A prayer for one far-off

This is not releasing, flinging out,a human thought, a message of my love,whirling over the earth's curve,or through its crust and magma,nor launching out a wishto the vagaries of wind,fragilities of hope,gestures of human ritual.

Day-maker,man-builder,Parent/Friend,accept my

As close as thought

Heaven is well within our reach—not a far-off, halcyon beachbut a shoreless now/here place,including us in God's embraceof Spirit's idea-world.

Three young men,Eyes and heartsFixed on the One,Refused to bend,To follow the liturgical worshipOf the king's idol—So set, so tall,So gargantuan in its glisterings.

God is real

The silent stars in boundless space,The wonder of a baby's face;The changing seasons, one by one,The wind, the rain, the shining sun;A blooming flower, a flying bird,A friendly smile, a kindly word—The things we touch and see and feelAll go to prove that God is real!And being real, He's present, too,And always watching over you!
