Go forward with grace

“What if the greatest gift I ever gave you was the ability to forgive?”

That was the question God posed to me at exactly 4:12 on a Saturday morning. I was lying in bed, praying for a way to go forward in what felt like a difficult family situation. For the umpteenth time, my husband and I were being called upon to “bail out” our daughter who, it seemed, was thoroughly inept at managing her finances.

Just one month before this request, we had resolved to say no the next time she asked us for a loan. She had yet to repay a single previous loan—of which there had been many.
