Eye on the world: Supporting through prayer the world’s efforts to preserve the environment
In “Ozone hole on the mend, say scientists” The Christian Science Monitor reports that “a gaping hole in the ozone layer has been opening up over Antarctica each spring for decades. And now there are signs that the slow process of healing has begun …. Scientists credit this progress to the 1987 Montreal Protocol, an international treaty that phased out chemicals that eat away at the ozone layer, which shields our planet from deadly levels of radiation.” This important progress in preserving the environment—a result of international cooperation and collective investment—is being celebrated as “the most significant environmental success story of the 20th century.”
