THE SCIENTIFIC BUSINESSMAN

Christian Science is the businessman's best friend and partner, for it is always dependable and assures success in all righteous endeavors. Let us see how the Christian Scientist may fulfill the promise given to the individual who delights in God's law. The Psalmist says (Ps. 1:3), "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

In preparation for establishing and conducting a business one may well ask himself, "What is my purpose?" Jesus once said of his work (John 18:37), "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." To bear witness to the truth of God and man is to understand and prove man's unity with God. Thereby human existence is enriched and blessed with a greater measure of happiness, peace, and abundant living than can otherwise be achieved.

A businessman who builds on the foundation of witnessing to the truth of God and man, as revealed in Christian Science, identifies himself with the Christ—the nature, power, presence, substance, and law of Spirit. He serves no selfish purpose. His one desire is to glorify God and bless his fellow men. He recognizes that both he and his business are in reality God's ideas, authorized, established, and sustained by divine Mind. This understanding leads him to make right decisions, take right human foot-steps, and enjoy the fruitage of fidelity to Truth.
