"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and...

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name ... who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:1, 3). These words of the Psalmist best express my heartfelt gratitude for a healing of epilepsy. This healing came to me more than forty years ago.

When Christ Jesus' disciples had failed to heal a boy afflicted with a similar condition the lad's father appealed to the Master, and his son was healed. In my case I had been given up by the family physician, for all remedies that had been tried had failed. When a dear friend pleaded with my family and me to try Christian Science, a practitioner was called and came to our home; it was felt that I was about to pass on. The practitioner silently prayed at my bedside, and within half an hour the whole condition had changed. From the darkest hour of my life I awakened into the most glorious day. The major part of the healing was accomplished in this one treatment. The drugs and medicines that had been used to quiet me were disposed of in the ash can, and there was a gradual falling away of all symptoms of the disease.

Such a revolutionary change took place within my consciousness that it was as though a great light had dawned. As the Wisemen of old rejoiced while the star of Bethlehem shone over the newborn babe, so I rejoiced at my deliverance, singing praises to God and thanking the loving practitioner and the dear friend who had recommended Christian Science to me. In the years since then Christian Science has been my only physician, and there have been many marvelous healings.
