GOD ONLY IS REFLECTED BY MAN

The teaching of Christian Science relative to the spiritual and harmonious relationship of God and man is not only inspirational, but of great practical value in healing the ills and discords which befall mortals.

It is natural for one to turn to the Holy Bible for correct information concerning God and His creation, including individual man. In Genesis we read (1:26, 27): "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. ... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." And it is positively declared, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." This recognition by Deity of the perfection of His own reflection, His creation, is one of the most important facts in Scripture.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy states (p. 539), "God could never impart an element of evil, and man possesses nothing which he has not derived from God." When the truth is clearly discerned that man is the perfect reflection of God, consisting of His ideas and divine qualities, and of nothing else, then one is enabled to realize and demonstrate the oneness of God and man, Principle and idea, cause and effect. This demonstration brings into our immediate experience the uplifting and comforting fact that man cannot know, does not have, and cannot be anything except what God causes His idea to express by reflection.
