God’s great light
Joel Young
Dear Father-Mother God, I pray,
let not my thoughts or desires stray
into “the land of Nod”Genesis 4:16
and dreams,
however fair it sometimes seems
to my lazy, dreamy, mortal plans . . .
But let me wake to God’s great light—
to Love and Truth and Life and right.
With motive true and action sure,
may I perceive all trials aright and prove faithful,
anchored in God’s dear goodness pure!
