Awakening to the Christmas star
Am I eagerly awake
as were the shepherds?
Or . . .
Am I sleepily tending only the sheep—
the issues in my life?
Listen . . .
Awake to the expectancy of a greater light—
the guidance of God’s Christ.
Do I perceive that star of light
as the shepherds did?
Do I follow that guiding star of brightness
as the wise men did?
Do I expect the Christ to be revealed?
I seek . . .
I listen . . .
I perceive . . .
I trust . . .
I follow . . .
I glimpse that infant awareness of the Christ.
I rejoice, with childlike joy, in the Truth
revealed through expectant prayer.
I follow the angel thoughts
guiding, revealing.
I trust the Christ, Truth, awakening in my thought.
I realize that I am forever awake
in the healing presence of Christ.
I rejoice as I see and hear and feel
ever-dawning understanding.
I trust God’s guiding star . . .
forever shining.
