Thank you prayers: The antidote to worry

Worry is fear in miniature. Left unchecked, it can erode joy, peace, and energy. But challenging the worry habit spiritually through the teachings of Christian Science can be an opportunity to trust more in God’s ever-present care—not only for ourselves but for loved ones and the world—to flex our spiritual muscles, and gain a victory.

I was a chronic worrier from a young age. Later in my life this reached its zenith in a major meltdown. Years of relentless worry had taken a toll on my mental and physical health. My days, and especially my nights, were fraught with pessimism and negativity. But by this time I was a student of Christian Science and knew I could turn to God in prayer for help. As I did, healing ideas began to unfold.

I was learning that God is both All and solely good. That God is Love and has made His offspring like Himself. Each one of us exists spiritually as a mirror image of Love. We dwell in God as His reflection, always governed by the law of Love. It is our oneness with God that keeps us safe, and in the awareness of this tender relationship, worry melts away like icicles in the sun.
