No separation from God

“Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man is separated from God, . . .”
—Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 91.

The world today is loudly shouting
things that cause us fear and doubting—
words that all mean separation,
that describe our situation:
“lockdown,” “limit,” “quarantine.”
One questions what all this can mean.

But we can know in peaceful prayer
our loving God is everywhere;
His care surrounds us each and all,
and He will answer every call.
There is no limit to His love—
it flows out freely from above.
And Bethlehem’s sky revealed the light
that showed us Christ dispelling night.
It banished darkness, doubt, and fear,
so angel voices men could hear.
All space is filled with Love divine—
a presence powerful and benign.
God’s universe is filled with peace
and freedom, which bring sweet release.
So Christmas will remind us
His gifts of peace and joy
are showered on us throughout the year
to relish and enjoy.
So rise and sing this Christmastide
the Alleluia song—
the Comforter and the Christ light
to you and all belong.
