Worth the repetition

When you hear something over and over, maybe it clicks, or maybe it goes in one ear and out the other after a while. For me, that’s what started to happen with being told that I was God’s child.

Growing up in the Christian Science Sunday School, I’d heard this phrase more times than I could count. And it was definitely reassuring in the same way that thinking about God in general has always been reassuring to me. I just rarely stopped to consider what this statement actually meant or why it was important. It was like if I heard or read it, my mind kind of skated over it.

One thing I’ve learned from studying Christian Science, though, is that these ideas from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, are powerful. They aren’t just nice thoughts or comforting things people say. They’re spiritual facts. They explain the very deepest truth of who we are. And truth corrects misconceptions—meaning, it heals.
