Hymn

Originally published in the September 15, 1890 issue of the Christian Science Series (Vol. 2, No. 10)

Father Omnipotent,
All-Good, All-Glorious,
Thro' mortal discord
Thy Truth is harmonious.

O! Thou Adorable,
Only and Perfect One,
Make us to image Thee
Thro’ Thy beloved Son.

Clothed with humility,
Sandaled with Truth and faith,
Deathless He journey’d thro’
That valley-shadow, death.

Waked from the Adam dream,
Freed from the law of sin,
Ours is the law of Life
Christ Jesus usher’d in.

We are the after-fruits
Of that Tree of Life, I Am,
Planted in Moses and
Seeded in Abraham.

Branched in Daniel,
Joshua, Isaiah;
Fruited in Christ at last—
Perfect Idea.

O! Thou Adorable,
Only and Perfect One,
Make us to image Thee
Thro’ Thy beloved Son.

Our true inheritance
Make us to rise and claim;
Truth’s mighty works to do
In the Almighty Name.

Our foster-father, sense,
Too long we’ve served. Unbound
Now, like the Prodigal,
Husks lying around,

Humbly we turn to Thee,
Thy Fatherhood to prove,—
Sin, sickness, death below,
Life, Truth, and Love above.

Father Omnipotent
All-Good, All-Glorious,
O’er mortal discord,
Thy Life is victorious.

O! Thou Adorable,
Only and Perfect One,
Make us to image Thee
Thro’ Thy beloved Son.
