No wait for happiness
Originally appeared on spirituality.com
Soon after graduating college, I found my first real job and moved to a big city. But a year later, I still felt like I was floundering in the friendship department.
This wasn’t a new feeling. Growing up, I sometimes had a tendency to place intense focus on what I thought wasn’t going perfectly in my life—especially in friendships. It seemed like I never had enough friends. Or I assumed the ones I had didn’t care about hanging out with me. Sometimes I would even get frustrated when someone was five minutes late to meet me!
During these times when I examined all the “holes” in life’s net, it was no surprise I didn’t feel very happy. In fact, I realize I was often ignoring all the goodness and love going on in my life.
