A prayerful response to Hurricane Katrina

Bill Moody

spirituality.com host: Many of us have been praying and keeping an eye on Hurricane Katrina as it developed and now has moved to shore along the Gulf Coast of the United States. But even after the storm, there will be plenty to pray about, and so we asked William Moody to participate in this live chat to answer your questions. Bill is a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science who lives in Massachusetts. But for many years, he lived in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Bill, since you used to live in New Orleans, I’m sure you’ve been praying about the storm. Would you be willing to share some thoughts that have come to you?

Bill: Thank you so much for inviting me to participate in this. As you mentioned, I lived for many years in New Orleans. I grew up there, and in fact, in 1965, I was there when Hurricane Betsy hit, which was the last direct hit on the city by a hurricane. Our family home suffered quite a bit of damage at that time, so you know, it’s not just something that I’m sort of on the sidelines thinking about. I’ve been in the middle of it so to speak, and I know what these dear ones down there are dealing with and struggling with right now.
