BARTIMAEUS

I hear thy cry across the bewildered years!Time being the thing it is, I stand with thee;Thy friends are mine who bid us cease from fears—The Master calls, he calls to thee, to me!We are the prisoners of our strange attire,But cast aside these garments instantlyAnd with one hope, one beautiful desire,Turn Christward that our darkened eyes may see.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Since knowing Thee unsealed the fontWhere slept the muted wordAnd with Thy gracious wakeningThe slumbering Muses stirredUntil a mighty miracleOf rhythmic song occurred—Since knowing Thee unsealed this fontOf joy so long deferred,My life has been as sweet a songAs man has ever heard.

HEED NOT!

When mortal mind is talkingAnd lifts its hydra head,We do not have to listen,For nothing's being said.

THE SWORD OF GIDEON

And so it came to pass when GideonBlew on his trumpet that a sound aroseLike some vast murmur in the plain.

ANDREW

I know that we can do the works he did.

CONSUMMATION

When we obey eternal MindIn thought, in word, in deed,With grateful joy we quickly findWe have no other need.

THE PURPOSE

Guide Thou my hand upon the pageThat words may there take formAnd shine with light reflecting lightTo travelers in the storm.
