Military Service Act

In connection with the recent registration of those subject to military service in the United States, it is learned that in a considerable number of cases Christian Scientists have claimed exemption in three ways:.

Divine Judgment

In the second chapter of Isaiah's prophecy we find a declaration of truth which is of intense significance to the student of Christian Science at the present hour.
"I am writing to express my gratitude for the recent move made by the Publishing Society to increase the prices on our periodicals.

Commercial Warfare

Greed and fear at work in commerce produce warfare, and non-combatants are the principal sufferers.

"Judge righteous judgment"

A maxim well known to business men is that the man who is to succeed in selling his wares must give his attention to presenting their merits rather than to dwelling upon the faults, or alleged faults, of his competitor or his competitor's goods.

War Relief Fund

The war relief fund of The Mother Church will be continued during the period of the war.

When Goethe in the Chorus Mysticus of his Faust Epilogue penned the words Das Ewig-Weibliche zieht uns hinan.
Out of a multitude of letters which bear eloquent witness that the increase in prices of the periodicals is being "cheerfully met," we take the following brief extracts:—

"Haste toward harmony"

People in general are acquainted with the proverb "Haste makes waste," and its sentiment is undoubtedly true on the plane of material activity.

"He doeth the works"

He who was the greatest of all teachers, who overcame all material law, even that of death and the grave, yet humbly said, "I can of mine own self do nothing;" and again, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Throughout the Scriptures we find many references to wisdom, and it is most unequivocally stated that no other possession of humanity equals it in value.
