From the time of Moses, there have been public readers and expounders of the sacred Scriptures, selected obviously for their spiritual qualities.

Church Membership

To become a valuable member of any organization is always to assume a certain responsibility, since membership means the agreement not only to sustain and support the object for which the organization is formed, but also to enter, willingly and whole-heartedly, into active work for the advancement of all its varied purposes and aims.

The Healing of Children

When Christ Jesus, in rebuking the disciples who would have kept the little ones away from him, said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God," it seems reasonable to conclude that he spoke in recognition of the mental attributes of childhood,—purity, truthfulness, and simple faith.

Harvest

In that ancient day when, as related in the book of Exodus, laws were formulated for the government of the children of Israel, provision was made for the keeping of three festivals, one of which was to be celebrated during the harvest season.

Sacrifice

The Christian Scientist who has learned in some degree to demonstrate the truth which Christian Science teaches, that the power of God is ever available to deliver mankind from the false beliefs of sin and disease, is endeavoring to consecrate his life more and more to the service of the Cause with which he is associated.

"The way of holiness"

Isaiah at one time, in referring to "the joyful flourishing of Christ's kingdom," encouraged his hearers to "be strong, fear not," and then went on to say: "Your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

Rejoice Always!

The rejoicing which so frequently found expression in the sacred Scriptures was largely inspirational.
One does not practice Christian Science long until he is firmly convinced that a realization of the truth of being invariably demonstrates that truth.

Grace

Almost without exception but one Greek word is used in the New Testment for "grace," a term which nearly everybody knows the meaning of, but which most people find it difficult to express in words.
