In
a world where suffering sometimes appears to be much in evidence the questions are often asked, Can it be God's will that men should have to endure the pangs of disease or the ravages of sin?
In
the early history of Christian Science, almost everybody who became interested in this subject had regarded both God and man as like a human person.
The
Apostle James pointed out that mere words of charity expressed to one who is "naked, and destitute of daily food," profit nothing, and that practical charity calls for giving "those things which are needful to the body.
The
greatest metaphysical thinker of all time, the most scientific man who ever lived, Christ Jesus, said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
How often does the cry go up to God from humanity for His love, His support, His guidance! But how often it is made as if He were afar off, so far off, indeed, that He may not hear the cry at all, even the cry of agony! There is surely something wrong with the concept of God which regards Him as apart from His creation, probably far apart from it.
Christian Science
teaches that God, divine Principle, is the only Mind, the only cause or source of genuine consciousness or true thought; also, that the infinite action of infinite Mind constantly gives to man that consciousness which is complete and perfect.
