THE GRACE OF GOD

A new understanding of the word "grace" came recently, when calling upon a friend who has been reading Science and Health and studying the Lesson-Sermons but a short time.

Since God is Mind, and is Spirit, it is clear that this Mind's image and likeness is not corporeal.

PROTECTION AND JUSTICE

RECENTLY, in an old book, I came across an article called the "Journeys of the Children of Israel," in which the writer tries to show that at least a part of the Scriptures was written allegorically ; and in illustrating this he refers to the following passages : "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn;" which is alleged by the apostle Paul in his first epistle to the Corinthians to prove that such as "preach the gospel should live of the gospel;" and that the Spirit of God intended this figurative sense in this precept, besides the literal, is manifested by the verse which follows this passage, where it is said that for our sakes the gospel was written.

In the epistle to the Hebrews attention is called to the priesthood of Melchisedec, who is "by interpretation King of righteousness," and who is said to be "without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life.

While Christian Science teaches the unreality of sickness and poverty, it does so in the sense that they are not of God.
Christian Scientists readily agree that there is only one infinite Mind, God; still they insist that finite man can grasp or understand this infinite Mind, God, only in a small measure, in his present state of consciousness, and in consequence is not in complete alinement with His laws; hence the opportunity for the existence and influence of false beliefs which sometimes generate discords in mortal man, which are manifested in what we call sickness.
