OCCASIONALLY reference is publicly made to Christian Science as a religion in which there is no provision made for charitable work, nor any organized effort put forth to care for the needy and distressed.

Christian Scientists but reasonably contend that material existence, with all its consequent sin, sickness, and death, is but a misconception on the part of mortals of spiritual existence or of man's real being as the image and likeness of God, Spirit, basing their hope of immortality on the Scriptural assurance that, "when he shall appear, we shall be like him," because, forsooth, we shall then "see him as he is.
Christian Science is not, as is commonly supposed, a mere school of physical healing.
Christian Science does not teach that the universe and man do not exist; but only that they are not what they seem to be to the unillumined consciousness.
Our civilization is at once blessed and cursed with some of our institutions.
No higher ideals are possible than those taught in Christian Science.
