In the Christian Science Bible Lesson

After we pray about a new direction and we feel we have found an answer, what do we do when we run into obstacles?

How can I decide?

When we pray for God's guidance, we not only have to listen, we have to be quiet enough to hear.
A student had failed his grade twice before. But maybe a teacher's spiritual sense and love could help make a difference.

Stanley's story

Hank, Horse, Holmesy, Guy, and Stanley (the puppy) find out that prayer makes room for healing.
Man's new role as neither the worshipper nor the destroyer of animals, but as a kind of governess, is beset by dangers, and often reminds one of charity in the nineteenth century.
It's easy to think that life consists mostly of trying to make sure we get enough of our needs met to be fairly happy. But there is a deeper meaning and a deeper satisfaction.

Feeling God's presence

Learning more of God's power and nature isn't an intellectual exercise; it calls for a pure heart that sees and feels divine Love expressed in all creation.

Overcoming discouragement

Prayer doesn't exclude thinking and reasoning from a spiritual base. Sometimes we may need to stop and consider what the purpose of our prayer really is.

SECOND THOUGHT

From Vogue, December 1985

Are you floating or swimming?

We don't have to drift along with or be pulled down by every shifting current of thought.
When I was a child, my mother would quiet my fears of the darkness by telling me there was nothing to fear.
He will shake heaven and earth, that only the unshakable may remain: he is a consuming fire, that only that which cannot be consumed may stand forth eternal.
