In the Christian Science Bible Lesson

No dust on your halo

I’ve found that daily prayer for myself is a really effective way to keep wiping clean my thinking, dislodging and sweeping away unproductive thoughts and misperceptions that otherwise may build up.

The truth about trials

I knew that God, being all good, doesn’t send trials, so I didn’t get how they could possibly be proofs of His care.
By rethinking choices I would normally have made instinctively, I’m becoming humbler, more receptive to God’s guidance, more confident in my choices, and clearer about my identity as God’s spiritual child.
At times, I was tempted to imagine how my need was going to be met. Would the oil company suddenly feel benevolent and deliver the oil free of charge? But I needed to keep myself from speculating about the result and instead leave the solution to God.
Midway through preparations for her school’s annual dance production, this college student was crushed when the pandemic disrupted their plans. But she was in for a surprise when the spiritual fact of God’s constant goodness made itself apparent in her life.
The inner calm that comes from experiencing God brings outward harmony. This spiritual peace we experience in thought can’t be undone.
The same power Jesus expressed is available today to all who follow Christ’s commands.

On the alert

To be mentally alert is to stay attuned to God, to listen to the voice of the Christ continually, regardless of where we are and what we are doing.

Healed of depression

It seemed like no one—not my parents, my teachers, or my friends—knew how to help me.
I stopped fixating on what looked like limited resources and changing circumstances and prayed to be more alert to the divine Love that takes care of everyone.

How are you praying about recent events in Washington, DC?

The invasion of the United States Capitol last month sounded alarm bells. And they are pealing even louder as a result of a recent survey revealing that about 30 percent of Americans feel that if elected leaders aren’t going to “protect” America, the people must do it themselves, even if it means resorting to violence.

Hymns can help!

One day my mom took me to the bike track, but I was scared of going down bumpy hills. I decided to sing Hymn 1 from the Christian Science Hymnal.
