LESSON FROM THE MOUNTAINS

Often have I watched the dull gray mists among the mountains, some heavy and thick, covering the entire range and wholly obscuring it from view, others stretching here and there, the peaks looming through where they are broken, and yet others as merely a light vapor, the strong background being easily seen behind them; but however far the mists may spread, however thick they may appear to be, still we know that behind them the mountains stand unchanged; we do not need to see them to know they are there.
