There are reasons why the courtesy of Christian Scientists should be spontaneous, unstudied, characteristic, since true courtesy is but the outward expression of that mental attitude which Christian Science inculcates, wherein brotherly love and thoughtful consideration for others are accentuated.

There seems to be a prevalent belief among the medical profession that Christian Science practice is a form of suggestion, according to the statements made by a lecturer as reported in a late issue.
Considerable space has been given recently in the News to the reporting of lectures in which spiritual healing by prayer was discussed.
An article in the Israelite contains disparaging remarks about Christian Science, but it might be left without comment did it not purport to give information about this religion while conveying, unintentionally perhaps, false impressions of some of its teachings.

For a rapid-fire succession of misleading statements about Christian Science it would be difficult to find the equal of the pamphlet recently distributed in your community, in which a minister attacks a man of straw of his own making and calls it Christian Science.
After a lecture in any community by a member of the board of lectureship of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, it is not uncommon for some of the ministers of other churches to compare their respective religions with Christian Science, and conclude that the latter has no benefits to offer which cannot be gained through the former.

"Christ in you"

In his epistle to the Colossians, Paul uses this expression: "Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Divine Protection

As a conductor in the employ of an electric railway company, I have had many opportunities to prove the truths of Christian Science.
One often hears from those who are investigating the teachings of Christian Science such remarks as, "I cannot understand Christian Science; I am not sufficiently intellectual," and other statements of like character.

The Scriptures refer to light as a synonym for God, but more often God's manifestation in human consciousness is spoken of as light, and those having an understanding of God are constantly referred to as those having light, or as walking in light.
