Partial paralysis healed

First printed in The Herald of Christian Science, French edition.

One day about two years ago, I began feeling a ceaseless sensation of discomfort in my jaw and right temple. I spent the whole night in prayer, but while I could feel a slight improvement, I was able to sleep only a little in the first hours of the day following.

That morning, as usual, I went to take my shower. I was astonished to find in the reflection in the mirror a bloated face and a swollen right eye. I felt overwhelmed by sadness. Then when I went to brush my teeth, I had trouble raising my right arm. The condition seemed to be the beginning of paralysis. I was worried and full of questions, wondering what to do and whether the condition would yield, especially since I had not been able to resolve the situation through prayer the previous night.

Right away, I said to myself that wallowing in discouragement and pity was undoubtedly not a good cure. Then I decided to really practice what I had learned in Christian Science. I put on the table my Bible, Science and Health, and other of Mary Baker Eddy’s writings, and resolved to devote myself to study and prayer that morning.
