SYMPTOMS OF KIDNEY DIFFICULTY HEALED
There was a time when there was a lot of conversation within my family about kidney stones and their accompanying painful symptoms. At the end of 2006, when I began to experience all the signs that had been discussed, I was initially full of fear. Since it was natural for me to rely on prayer for healing, I knew that this was an opportunity to demonstrate my complete trust in God's healing power—and in the Christ-message I'd come to know. I'd learned that the Christ is received by all who yield to the touch of divine Love.
As the days went by, when painful internal sensations persisted and I became more and more uncomfortable, I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me. We kept in touch frequently for a little over a month, and I noticed that when the practitioner was praying for me during each day, the pain would vanish. However, I often struggled at night, and when I woke up in the morning, the pain would still be there.
During this time, I was studying pages 390-395 in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. I found these pages to be full of very strong metaphysical arguments against pain and sickness, calling them "inhuman laws" and encouraging me to "banish the belief" that I could ever suffer. These passages insisted that one should "never plead guilty" to sickness but rather to "mentally contradict every complaint from the body and rise to the true consciousness of Life as Love." These powerful statements helped me take a stand for my God-given freedom from illness, lifted my fear, and I became conscious of a gentle, merciful God present with me.
