“It is good for us to be here”

A Christian Science church service is filled with love and inspiration, governed by God, and offered by grateful hearts. 

One Sunday morning, while I was preparing for the service in our local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, this question came to me rather aggressively: “What if nobody else comes?” I had been praying for our church service, but in that moment, it seemed as if my prayers were being challenged. 

After praying a few moments more, I received an answer from God that quieted that fear: “God guides His children to where they need to be.” I was grateful for this assurance and felt at peace as I continued preparing for the service.

But on the way to church, another question came: “So, if God is the one who brings His children to church, what are we there for?” Right on the heels of that question, this answer came quickly to thought: “You do your work, and God will do His.”
