Muscle soreness gone
One Friday several years ago, a friend asked me to play a round of golf with her. I thought it would be fun, as I had not picked up my golf clubs in a long time. We enjoyed our game, but by the next morning I was feeling a great deal of pain in my upper body. It was even a little difficult to breathe.
I did pray about this, but I have to admit that I mostly dismissed it as no big deal, just soreness from unaccustomed exercise. The following day, however, I could hardly move. It was Sunday, and I was able to get to church, but as I tried to sing the last hymn of the service, I was almost in tears because of the pain. At the end of the service, a fellow church member came up to me and said, “How can I help?” I asked her to pray for me, and I feel that this was the beginning of the healing.
I barely managed to get to my car. When I arrived home, I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for specific treatment through prayer about my true, spiritual identity. In my own prayers I affirmed the fact that I am not a mortal, material being but the image and likeness of God, Spirit. I reasoned that since God is infinite good, I could not express anything but health and happiness.
