Take up your oars for your fellow man
There must be a righting-up of the mind as surely as of a
ship when under stress of storm it is ready to capsize.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Pulpit and Press, p. 80
When darkness seems so very real
And light seems oh, so dim,
Be willing, when called, to share Truth’s strength.
Take up your oars for your fellow man.
When cares of this world would press us down
And keep us from pushing on,
Be willing, when called, to share Soul’s joy.
Take up your oars for your fellow man.
When sorrow weighs and tears flow free
To make us think there is a void
Be willing, when called, to share Love’s embrace.
Take up your oars for your fellow man.
When sickness engulfs with weariness, pain,
And fog beclouds our view,
Be willing, when called, to share Life’s touch.
Take up your oars for your fellow man.
Your fellow man is God’s pure child;
The oars, your prayers for peace;
The rowing, the waves of sacredness
Bringing us home to healing relief.
