Injured wrist quickly healed

During a recent trip, I was glad that I could turn to the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly to know more about what’s spiritually true. This lesson contains passages from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science. Ideas from these books helped me when I fell, hitting my knee, hip, wrist, and head, on a concrete driveway.

I have learned from my study of Christian Science that we actually live in God (see Acts 17:28) and that in God’s kingdom there are no accidents. As Science and Health explains: “Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony” (p. 424). After affirming in my prayer that there are no accidents in God’s kingdom, I got up and went inside to clean up the scraped knee.

When my husband came to check on me, he noticed the swelling of my wrist and said it looked like it was broken. I told him that I was knowing in my prayers that my God-created perfection was unchanged. In that week’s Bible Lesson were these words that have helped me so many times to exchange a false, physical view for the spiritual truth of man’s perfection as a child of God, Spirit: “Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick” (Science and Health, pp. 476–477).
