Sing the song that brings healing
This work—this song—is full-time employment.
“I will sing a new song unto thee, O God” (Psalms 144:9).
One way to interpret this is that this song is not a song to be sung out loud. It is a way of thinking and living that springs from a heart singing with praise for God—that springs from understanding and trusting God’s complete and harmonious government of His entire creation.
This loving, spiritual way of thinking and living brings healing into our own life and the lives of others. It is the way of life Christ Jesus practiced himself and taught to his followers. He said: “ ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ ” (Matthew 22:37–39, New Living Translation).
