Waking up
Morning’s light
prods my slumbering thoughts
to awake
from sleep and dreams.
An opening eye tests the light,
and I arise.
The day seems filled
with hate and fear,
with jarring words,
colliding thoughts.
How can I awake
from this disturbing dream
and darkened day?
I pray.
Now Christ’s light
prods my still-slumbering thought
to awake
from deadening sleep and troubling dreams.
My opening eye
tests this bright and all-illuming light.
This is God’s day!
Here Love unfolds to all
good—and good alone.
No hate or fear holds sway;
no jumbled thoughts collide.
God is All, and all in His sweet care abide.
I see that this is true
and know that this is real.
I am awake.
