Christian Science came to me many years ago through a phone call from a friend in the Indian community. She had heard about a Christian Science practitioner, or healer, and despite knowing very little about Christian Science, gave me the woman’s phone number because my baby daughter was unwell. 

I called the practitioner that day. I still remember her asking if I was interested in healing through prayer. “Of course!” I answered. There was an almost instantaneous healing of the baby minutes after we hung up. 

I wanted to know how this remarkable healing had happened, so I went to the nearest Christian Science Reading Room and bought a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science. Right away I began reading the book. At first I could not believe that there were actually people who believed and trusted in a God so loving and so good, and that they expected this God to heal all kinds of serious illnesses.
