No dead ends
My understanding of Christian Science has shown me that effective prayer never starts with the problem, but always with the affirmation of God’s allness and goodness. This helps us find answers in troubling situations.
A couple of years ago, I befriended a woman who was a director of a local humane society. One evening, she told me about a call the society had received to take in a stray cat from a local junkyard. During a checkup with a veterinarian, they learned that the cat had just given birth. My friend was upset by this news, because the cat had been at the shelter, separated from her kittens, for about ten days.
I realized that this “panic praying” would do nothing to help.
