Severe toe injury healed

About one year ago, I sustained a severe injury to my big toe. I called a Christian Science practitioner right away for Christian Science treatment. However, because of an overriding family concern, I found myself in the emergency room. I then ended up being detained in the hospital for nine nights because the injury had penetrated so deeply that it had reached the bone. Nonetheless, I refused to take any drugs, as I was not going to let anything prevent me from continuing to rely on God for healing.

I found it difficult to pray in the hospital because of constant interruptions related to a variety of tests and examinations. I started wishing that I could be in a place that felt more conducive to prayer, such as a Christian Science Reading Room, a Christian Science nursing facility, or a Church of Christ, Scientist.

It was then that I had a new, fresh inspiration: In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy defines Church spiritually, in part, as “the structure of Truth and Love” (p. 583). Christian Science teaches that Truth and Love are synonyms for God, and that God is All-in-all and ever present; therefore, I was, in reality, within the structure of Church, not a hospital structure. With these inspired and joyful thoughts, I felt a sense of coming home and of having never left the mental, spiritual sanctuary and structure of Church. I began to rejoice that I could be inspired and feel spiritually uplifted right in my hospital room.
