No more reaction from insect stings
Many years ago, when I was in the Democratic Republic of Congo, I felt a bug crawling on my neck. It was a caterpillar, and straight after that I had an allergic reaction all over my body. Later, when my family moved to Norway, something similar happened when I was stung by a wasp.
I did not handle the problem through prayer in either case; I just accepted the allergic reaction as normal and began to avoid certain insects at all costs. But when I was attending a camp for Christian Scientists in Switzerland in 2013, I had a talk with a practitioner, and she realized I was afraid of wasps. During our chat she pointed out that because infinite Mind, God, is totally good and created all, Mind’s ideas are good, and they work together only for good. Therefore, no creature could harm me, nor could I harm them.
Later that summer, when I was at home, I got stung by a wasp again. This time I saw that I had a choice. I could either accept an allergic reaction as real and condoned by God, or I could see it as a falsehood and instead recognize the constant harmony that exists between God’s ideas. I decided to do the latter.
