Foot injury healed

In the summer of 2017 I had the great joy of participating in an event for young people interested in Christian Science. It included a rich variety of activities such as talks and discussion groups, as well as physical activities like rock climbing and soccer, for those who were interested. It was wonderful.

In one of the sporting activities I injured my foot; it seemed I had broken my toe. The next morning right after breakfast, there was a Christian Science lecture, and getting there was very painful. When I reached the room where the lecture was being held, though, there was a tangible sense of divine Love unlike anything I had ever experienced before—it was truly palpable. I think it had a lot to do with the receptivity and joy people were feeling as they looked forward to the lecture and the week together.

The lecture was about our relation to God, as taught in Christian Science, about how we are perfect reflections of God. To quote Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: “Your mirrored reflection is your own image or likeness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also. If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in accord with yours. Now compare man before the mirror to his divine Principle, God. Call the mirror divine Science, and call man the reflection. Then note how true, according to Christian Science, is the reflection to its original. As the reflection of yourself appears in the mirror, so you, being spiritual, are the reflection of God” (pp. 515–516).
