God met my family’s needs
I married a woman who had children from a previous marriage. A state highway engineer at the time, I would be the sole financial support for the family. However, my job simply did not provide enough income to do this.
I prayed to God about the situation. I also realized that God already knew of the need and had made provision for our family before I even requested His help. As Christ Jesus tells us, “Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:8). I knew that what I had to do was continue praying, remain calm, be patient, and fully realize, as Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need” (p. 494).
Shortly after I began praying about this situation, I received a telephone call from a person who managed an employment business, and he told me that a local contractor was looking for an engineer. I contacted this person, had one meeting, and was immediately hired at a rather large raise in salary. I stayed with this company for thirty years and retired as vice president. The new income was fully sufficient for the needs of my family. I was and am so grateful to God for meeting our needs.
