We can reclaim our wholeness
When a wave of trouble comes, flooding our thought with fear and doubt, we might believe that harmony, peace of mind, and fulfillment are elusive—maybe even impossible. But Christian Science teaches otherwise.
Christian Science emphasizes that God is the creator of all, including man made in His likeness. It shows that God is Love, our divine Father-Mother, who nurtures, guides, and protects His creation. God is our helper, on whom we can rely in all circumstances. As a hymn by John Ryland says, God is “my best, my ever Friend” (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 224).
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, quotes Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man,” and then she brings out the spiritual meaning, saying, “In other words: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: love God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole of man in His image and likeness. Divine Love is infinite. Therefore all that really exists is in and of God, and manifests His love” (p. 340).
