‘Daily Prayer’ heals back pain
One afternoon a few weeks ago, I found myself dealing with extreme back pain. I had trouble moving around, and I could not get comfortable standing or sitting. I also found no comfort when I went to bed later that evening.
The next morning, still in pain, I gave myself a Christian Science treatment. I don’t recall all of the details of the treatment, but I know that it included the “Daily Prayer” from the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, which states in part: “ ‘Thy kingdom come;’ let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; …” (p. 41). I knew that “Thy kingdom” is referring to God’s kingdom, and as I prayed I affirmed that His kingdom is come—it has not come and gone, nor do we have to wait for it to come. His perfect kingdom and everything within it is perfect, here and now—it always has been and ever will be.
As I thought about “the reign of divine Truth,” I knew that only Truth, God, governs; that God’s truth is governing every aspect of my being and all being. I knew that this reality is a spiritual fact, and that this fact is a law of perfection, harmony, peace, and serenity to every activity of every day.
