Cut thumb healed with no scar
This is adapted from a testimony originally posted during The Mother Church’s online Wednesday testimony meeting.
A couple of years ago, a package was delivered that I was excited to receive. While cradling the box in my arms, I grabbed a pair of very sharp scissors to slice open the packing tape, but the scissors slipped and I ended up stabbing my thumb. The long, deep cut presented a very impressive image.
My wife gave me some paper towels to staunch the bleeding and asked if she should drive me to the hospital emergency room. Instead, I asked her to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. Meanwhile, I set about cleaning and bandaging the wound.
I began my own prayer by affirming with absolute conviction that in spite of the picture in front of me, nothing had actually happened that could impact my flawless spiritual reflection of God’s perfection. I had to resist the temptation to think I was an idiot for being so clumsy. I really worked to refute the suggestion that a child of God could be stupid.
