Caring for the Olympics with prayer
Every two years, my anticipation grows as I look toward the next Olympic Games. I love responding with heartfelt appreciation for and admiration of the athletes’ expression of discipline, the fruits of vigorous training, and patriotism, as well as the outpouring of universal fellowship that athletic competition on the world stage brings forth. It’s not hard to admire those who invest their full time and energy in striving to put down limitations and perform their best in athletic competition.
In recent years, I’ve been feeling a deepening commitment to another, more spiritually engaging way to show my support for the Olympics: prayer. Prayer provides a genuine opportunity to transcend just wishing or hoping that this world-encompassing event will take place without any problems.
True scientific prayer opens our eyes to the power of God’s immutable law of good—the omni-action of the one infinite God, Mind, embracing all. This law is evidenced in receptive human consciousness as right thinking, which brings right acting, as well as health and safety.
