Infection healed, hearing restored
Originally written in French, this first appeared in the December 2016 Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German editions of The Herald of Christian Science.
Over three years ago my ear became infected, and I realized I could hear practically nothing with that ear. I started to pray right away. Since my other ear was perfectly well, I was hearing enough to work and go about my daily business, but there were some challenging moments.
I pondered the definition of ears in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding” (p. 585). I was striving to see that my spiritual understanding is a reflection of divine intelligence and cannot be obstructed. Then, since fear had crept into my thought, I called a Christian Science practitioner to ask for help through prayer.
I also prayed with the last part of the definition of creator in Science and Health: “God, who made all that was made and could not create an atom or an element the opposite of Himself” (p. 583). Thanks to the practitioner’s support, fear disappeared and was replaced with the conviction that only good was unfolding.
