A life filled with healing
It is often interesting to learn how people first came into Christian Science. Back in the 1920s my family became interested in Christian Science because a man they knew was healed, through Christian Science, of a lung disease that was prevalent at that time. After that, my mother was sent to a Christian Science Sunday School.
Some years later, when I came on the scene, I ended up in the children’s hospital in a coma, which apparently lasted for some time. In the long run my parents were told that it was unlikely that I would come out of it, but that if I did, I would probably be mentally impaired. My mother telephoned the Christian Science practitioner in our local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and told her what had been said. Apparently the practitioner said very little except for, “Leave it with me.” My mother knew she would be giving me Christian Science treatment.
That night I came out of the coma, but my parents were told that I would need to remain in the hospital for two weeks under observation. My mother reported that to the practitioner. The practitioner said, “Don’t worry about that, because he has had the healing,” and so it proved to be.
